NFT Drinks & Treats, NFT Gaming, and More!
Welcome back readers, thanks for having a look at the latest round-up of Morning NFTea. We've got some particularly interesting stories this week, so let's get into it!
First NFT Game on Epic Games Store
The Epic Games Store has around 58 million active monthly users according to Statista, and now this extremely popular video game storefront is about to have its very first NFT game. But what makes an NFT game you ask? It's based on the key idea of ownership, do you actually own what you purchase in-game? Well by incorporating the blockchain and NFTs, now you have control of what your digital avatar owns and sells. Grit is a Western-themed Battle Royale from the blockchain game developer Gala Games and is centred around the Gala Games decentralized blockchain network. With this opportunity from Epic Games, Grit is a first step for putting NFT games into the face of the public eye and will be a test in the prospect of empowering players with real in-game ownership.
Thirst For Utility
Thirst is a fresh Drinks and Treats store based in Utah, and they are releasing a collection of NFTs based on 25 unique characters from their menu. There will be 75 NFTs per collection and one collection for each store. The utility is that per day for the rest of your life, you can redeem your NFT character item for free, so if you have the smoothie NFT then you could have a free smoothie every day etc. There is more utility with 10% off the menu items for silver rarity and 25% off for gold rarity. The NFTs cost: Bronze: $400, Silver: $600, Gold: $800. What NFTs bring to the table over normal loyalty programs is the ability for these NFTs to be resold on the secondary market, allowing them to be treated as assets, and even though the store is giving out free items, the royalties on NFT sales go back to Thirst. The Thirst collection is another awesome spin being put on NFTs as they infiltrate yet another different market, the possibilities are truly endless. Now THAT is cool!
$72 Million in Land
Some more NFT game news, the Ethereum based game Illuvium has just sold over $72 million in digital land plots for its upcoming PC and Mac role-playing game set to release later this year. The sale saw 20,000 digital land plots sold to investors and prospective players, the land is based on Immutable X which is a scaling solution for Ethereum that enables cheaper, faster, and more energy-efficient transactions. Illuvium is an open-world exploration, NFT creature collector and auto battler game, and land will be used by holders to generate in-game resources. We are starting to see Metaverse land sales become quite popular, with Ember Sword game having a $203 million sale last July, Otherside raking in $317 million just over a month ago, and Sandbox having individual sales up to $4.3million. Time will tell how these play out, but the building blocks of a ‘Ready Player One’ type Metaverse future are definitely in play.
NFTs for Conservation
The Australia Zoo, home of the wife and children of legendary wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin, are dropping their first NFT collection. The first Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors NFT drop from the five-part series will focus on the Saltwater Crocodile, with 2,000 completely unique Warrior Crocs available. Priced at $50, 100% of the primary proceeds will go to different Wildlife Warrior conservation projects and initiatives, and holders will have access to special rewards, competitions, and other surprises. The project is created on the Algorand blockchain focused on sustainability which aims to be the world's first carbon-negative blockchain through Pure Proof Of Stake (PPOS) which doesn't involve mining. It's pretty cool to see NFTs being used by a zoo to promote and incentivise Wildlife Conservation, who knows what might come next.
Thanks people for tuning in, hope you have a great next couple of days and we will see you soon with some more Morning NFTea :)
