Hey friends,
Wonderful to have you back today! In this edition, we have some encouraging stories for NFTs featuring the Museum Of Modern Art, Amazon and Samsung. Let's jump straight into it!
San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art Acquires First NFT

The prestigious San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art (SFMOMA) is one of the largest modern and contemporary art museums in the United States, with a whopping 30,000+ pieces of artwork. In a progressive step for the NFT art world, this museum has acquired its first-ever NFT. Titled “Final Transformation #2 (2022)” by San Fran artist Lynn Hershman Leeson, this one-of-two edition will be added to SFMOMA’s permanent collection showcasing a clip from Leeson’s 1997 film “Conceiving Ada”.
“This visionary film about the legacy of Ada Lovelace, a mathematician who wrote the very first computer program in the nineteenth century, was made nearly thirty years ago but resonates today with the idea of NFTs… Today, we witness a revolution based on artificial intelligence, NFTs, and DNA becoming the driving force of a new language for storage and communication.”
The artist Lynn Hershman Leeson has been creating art about humans’ relationship with machines since the 1960s, so it's no surprise to see her utilize NFTs that open new possibilities through embedding digital files including audio, visual, text, and video elements into her pioneering pieces of art. As we move closer to the mainstream population understanding NFTs as a new technology rather than a cynical money grab, stories like this from a well-respected museum with an established brand truly exemplify how NFTs as a technology are facilitating a new age of digital art and expression.
Amazon Web Services Partners With Avalanche

It was only a couple of editions ago we covered Ava Labs and their Avalanche blockchain when they partnered with Shopify to roll out NFT support to over 4.4 million online stores, but they are about to eclipse that through a new announcement with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
You are probably familiar with the Amazon online store, but that only makes up a minority of the company's business with 74% of Amazon's profit coming from AWS, which isn't surprising when you realize 90% of Fortune 100 organizations use AWS — including the likes of Facebook, Netflix, and even the CIA. With that scale in mind, it's incredible to see a recent announcement that will have AWS partner with Avalanche to scale blockchain and NFT solutions for enterprises, institutions and governments.
“Looking forward, web3 and blockchain is inevitable… No one can call the time or date or quarter that it’s going to happen and it’ll be mainstream, but we’ve seen the cycles of growth before. The velocity of this one seems like it’s accelerating and we’re just excited to be a part of this.”
Avalanche offering its Web3 and NFT infrastructure through AWS is a pretty monumental step, with President of Ava Labs John Wu saying “This is the beginning of something much, much bigger”. It's hard to disagree, considering Shopify as just one enterprise has utilized Avalanche to potentially roll out NFT support to over 700 million Shopify shoppers. One can only imagine how over 1 million AWS businesses may follow a similar path pushing NFTs and Web3 to the next stage. What a bullish signal to see the world's largest web cloud provider making a significant commitment to Web3.
Samsung Integrating NFTs Into 2022 & 2023 Premium TVs

When it comes to the world of electronics, few hold a household name status quite like Samsung, and they have just had a pretty exciting week of NFT announcements featuring separate partnerships with Savage and LaCollection.
When we talk about SAVAGE, we're not referring to the viral 2020 Megan Thee Stallion song; it's actually a Polygon-powered NFT marketplace and streaming service. This new alliance will enable Samsung customers to display and purchase NFTs through SAVAGE's carbon-neutral NFT marketplace and the SAVAGE Smart TV app. In the launch tweet from SAVAGE, they announced Samsung Smart TV owners will have easy connectivity with the highest quality uploads offered by any NFT marketplace, up to 8K resolution for displaying your NFT.
But it's not just SAVAGE users who will be able to benefit from Samsung TVs! Digital art NFT platform LaCollection is also launching a Smart TV app. Through LaCollection, this new TV-based NFT explorer and market aggregator allows users to discover, collect, and display art NFTs. The official LaCollection app will be integrated into Samsungs 2022 and 2023 premium TV lines.
“We couldn’t be prouder to partner with Samsung Electronics to develop a groundbreaking Web3 collecting experience. Their dedication to user experience and focus on the highest quality displays aligns perfectly with our vision to allow anyone, anywhere, to interact with their favorite artists as if it were a physical painting.”
Samsung has topped the global TV market for 16 straight years, accounting for an impressive third of the world's TVs sold last year. Having not one, but two NFT partnerships within the same week literally shows how this global powerhouse is doubling down on this revolutionary new tech, and committing to supporting a Web3 future.
We hope you enjoyed this edition, have a great couple of days and we will see you soon with the next round-up of Morning NFTea. Take care!
What's the NFTea?
The big NFT event of the week has unequivocally been the Sewer Pass claim from Bored Ape Yacht Club, which allows Bored Ape and Mutant Ape holders to access the innovative skill-based game Dookey Dash, where (we're not kidding) an ape races through a sewer to retrieve a golden key stuck in a monkey's butt.
Founder GordonGoner explains the innovative ideology behind —— undoubtedly the first of its kind in the space and kept highly under wraps.
Inspired by old-school arcade competitions, we had an idea for a weird, massive, skilled-based mint last year. The work to pull off something like this was seemingly simple but actually ridiculously complex. Proud of Yuga and the incredible work that’s gone into this. ❤️

As of writing this piece, just over 15k of the possible 29k total supply has been claimed while Dookey Dash is set to launch within the next few hours, with a 3-week window to achieve a high score. The collection has done close to an impressive 8,000 ETH in total volume, shocking since it was a free claim for all Ape holders.

However, the other side of the coin is that many holders are upset that the mint is gamified — in their view, what they were more interested in was a higher value free airdrop, not one that certain holders speculated on Bored Ape Kennel Club for (at its peak reaching a 12 ETH floor price, now back down to 6 ETH).
All this for a web 3.0 temple run.

This has led to discussions about which project is the best in the space; while Yuga Labs is undoubtedly still the market leader, certain voices in the space are predicting that Azuki will flip BAYC as soon as this year, driven by its impeccable tech execution and strong Asian presence.
Azuki will flip BAYC in 2023.
Not a if but a when.
It is inevitable.

How strong is that Asian presence, you ask? Well apart from massive local sub-communities in Taiwan, Mainland China, Singapore, South Korea and Hong Kong, Azuki just announced a surprise partnership with Bilibili International, one of the largest video streamers in the world especially for a Chinese-speaking audience.

The focus on content creation & getting the brand IP (both 'cool' Azukis and 'cute' Beanz) in front of a larger audience is a signal that the entire brand is building something extremely strong that could firmly cement it as a top project in the space.
